The shocking result of our nation’s Presidential Election – with Donny T. soon to reside at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. – has certainly brought the need for collective healing to the vanguard. The “vast, creative, unruly, energized campaign” (Hillary’s words) was spiritually debilitating enough. The fact that people will soon be referring to an accused racist, misogynist, and former reality TV star as “Mr President”(informal), “The Honorable” (formal) and “His excellency” (in international correspondence) is just too much for too many. Roiled by tension, division and mistrust, the people’s need to be restored to wholeness is On.
That’s good news for a guy building a center for optimal well-being, as there’s no shortage of people on the hunt for the restorative balm of a spiritual retreat. And I’ve certainly been crazy enough to think that I could change the world for awhile now. But on the subject of playing a role in mankind’s large, looming shift, there’s been a realization or two. The biggie is that I’m actually not going to heal a single soul here; I’m just out to heal myself, Deeply. Real knowledge sometimes means coming to terms with the extent of your own ignorance.
Along with Mahatma Gandhi famously saying, “You must be the change you want to see in the world,” he observed that: “As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world – that is the myth of the atomic age – as in being able to remake ourselves.” As I continue moving from old, worn out, past patterns of living, I’ll shift into brand new, fresh and vital states of life expressions, with the hope of bringing many along for the wild, wild ride.
